Power on Cabling was setup in late 2008 and since its inception it has not taken a backwards step.
Being run by a highly motivated Director, Power on Cabling performed well through the turbulent
times of the financial crisis in part due to strong working relationships, high quality of workmanship
and compliance with Western Power’s UDS manual. Power on Cabling stayed as a relatively small company through
the financial crisis as it trained staff and overall furthered its knowledge of Western Power standards, specifications and safety requirements.
In the early years of Power on Cabling Western Power changed the way the subdivisions were operated going from Option “A” to Option “B” which meant Power on Cabling had to quickly gain extensive knowledge on all technical sides. This also extended to the procurement and supply of all materials as well as taking on more of an installation role in terms of all cable jointing, transformer installation, earthing and testing. With Option “B” now being fully implemented, Power on Cabling now specialised in trenching, cable laying, jointing, testing, street lighting, transformer and switchgear and re-instatement.
Power on Cabling is owned and operated by Chris Errey who first found his passion for Underground power when he was 19 years
old working for Works Infrastructure. Chris worked there for two years learning vital knowledge of underground power and services
and was running small projects within a short period. Chris moved to Brierty for a permanent Leading Hand position in 2006 where he furthered his
knowledge and was soon looking to start his own business with a fellow work colleague.
In early 2007 Chris established Getting Layed Contracting Pty Ltd which specialised in underground power installation in subdivisions. At this point all subdivisions were still operated under Western Power’s ‘Option A’ classification. Getting Layed Contracting was responsible for delivery of materials, excavation, laying cable, re-instatement and installation of streetlights. Over the next two years Getting Layed Contracting worked primarily for Buckby Contracting and Wormall Civil. Chris had soon developed a sound business acumen and setup a new business, Power on Cabling.
Power on Cabling has expanded over the last three years going from 3 to over 35 employees.
Our employees have a wide range of experience from labourers & supervisors to project managers & estimators.
All employees have had extensive training, which is also ongoing.
Power on Cabling understand the occasional need to work overtime and weekends to ensure all KPI’s are met and the client
can fulfil their customer needs. As safety is a high priority at Power on Cabling we have employed a Health and Safety Advisor,
who will make sure all safety rules and regulations are adhered too.
Power on Cabling is continually looking for ways to further its business and look for safer and more cost effective processes for its clients. Power on Cabling is now a very well rounded business and is striving to establish further as a company that can carry out all aspects of a job in house without the use of subcontractors which gives the client more control and trust in the services delivered.
In November 2013, Railworks Services Group engaged the services of Power on Cabling to install underbores... I was very impressed with the way in which they organised themselves. I would have no hesitation in recommending Power on Cabling as a service provider to other contractors. I intend to engage Power on Cabling on all future projects.
Densford Civil engaged the services of Power on Cabling on a recent project for Perth Airport. They adhered to all of Densfords health and safety requirements together with good communications on site. I would have no hesitation in recommending them and will certainly use them in future projects
We have engaged Power On Cabling since they started up and is our preferred underground power sub-contractor. We have no hesitation in recommending Power On Cabling to other clients for their ability to deliver an exceptional service. Leong Tan (General Manager)
